Hormonal changes

Here’s a story about my mummy again. Last Monday, mummy went to see a dermatologist because one of her moles grew bigger and into weird shape; which is not a common pregnancy symptom. The dermatologist, Dr. Lo did excision biopsy for mummy. It was a minor operation under local anesthetist with 3 stitches; to remove the mole for diagnosis.

Mummy went back after a week to remove the stitches. The 13x12x12mm lesion turned out to be a benign compound, pigmented naevocellular naevus and there is no evidence of malignancy. :) Pheww... so much for a melanoma scare.

So, it’s just another “good deed” from hormone that runs havoc!

What is urine?

Daddy read this to me from http://pregnancy.baby-gaga.com/calendar/week29

"Another fantastic-accomplishment: your little monkey has been peeing into their amniotic sac for a little while now (this is why potty training takes a while) and if you didn’t know, actually swallows it along with the rest of the amniotic fluid. Although the concept is nasty, their urine is sterile and as part of the amniotic fluid base, is replaced several times throughout the day"

Daddy, what is urine???

Fetal Hiccups

I've new hobby recently and it's called hiccuping. I hiccup a few times a day for a few minutes each time. Daddy asked me to drink more water... I've tried but it doesn't seem to help. Well, I've started to learn how to breath and Daddy says a correct breathing technique is especially important for marathons :) My hiccup could be because my diaphragm is not strong enough yet. Mummy loves my hiccup and she's looking forward to the mild rhythmic pulse as it shows I'm active and well.

My first CD collection

Daddy and mummy said I’m one lucky baby because even though it’s not my birthday yet I’ve already got a present. :D Thank you Uncle Mark for the Melodies for Babies CDs. There are pieces by Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Chopin, Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Schubert and many more. Mummy loves the light and soothing music while I love the fun and play music. Uncle said I’ve to out-performed mummy on piano next time.

The 6th check up

As usual, mummy and daddy were looking forward to see me in ultrasound. Dr. Karen said I was doing fine, only mummy was not fine. I weight around 830g now. Mummy said I need to gain 500g by the next appointment, according to the fetal weight chart. So, I've to concentrate on "eating" and growing. In fact, I was drinking water when they saw me in ultrasound, as I can move my jaw now.

This was how I looked like when mummy and daddy saw me in ultrasound. Daddy kept asking why I like to put both my hands and legs with my head together. Well daddy, it's a bit crammed inside here you know...

Under the weather

Mummy had a rough week, this week.

1) Mummy had migraine which lasted for 3 days; for the first time. She said it felt weird to have throbbing pain at only one part of the head, as compared to the normal headache. She worried about having preeclampsia so she went to buy a blood pressure and heart beat monitor.

2) Twice in the week, mummy woke up with stabbing pain from leg cramp in the middle of the night, followed by calf muscle sore after that.

3) Mummy experienced pain in the tailbone for a few days after her hiking trip.

4) Mummy had persistence cold for one week and still counting. She finished a course of antibiotic but it didn’t help, so she has to bear with stuffy nose, itch throat, sneezing, running nose and sexy voice.

5) Mummy found blood in her urine which was preceded by lower abdominal pain earlier. It was right after office hour on Friday of the long weekend. They called Dr Karen up and were relieved to find out that she was still in the hospital to assist a delivery. (Mummy heard groaning at the background during the call). Hence, mummy and daddy rushed to the hospital and waited for Dr. Karen at the emergency room (as the clinic was closed) for 1 hour plus. Luckily it was just a urinary tract infection. Although Dr. Karen was shocked to see the amount of blood present in urine, she didn’t admit mummy to the hospital as there was no contraction. She prescribed an antibiotic called Zinnat. It was a controlled medicine that the pharmacist had to call Dr. Karen’s handphone up to double confirm the prescription and it costed RM123 for 20 tablets of Zinnat 250g. The total bill was RM277.50.

Phewww… what a scare, although all those are common pregnancy sickness. Nevertheless, mummy and daddy will be very grateful as long as I’m fine. :)
